  • Responsibilities

    You will be involved in the research of the latest wireless communication standards and technology for Internet of Things communication with a focus on connected lighting systems.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible for the proof of concept development of the protocol and prototype using software defined radio technology, and demonstrate the capability of the technology for the connected lighting applications.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Research on the cutting-edge wireless communication standards and technology for IoT communication;
    • Develop the proof of concept demonstration using software defined radio;
    • Build prototype system for connected lighting application with the PoC implementation.
    • Towards the end of the internship, we will ask the intern to prepare a presentation for the department. The candidate is expected to work in a team setting with scientists and contribute innovative ideas.

  • Qualifications

    We are looking for:

    • An intern that can work within a team environment and is self-motivated with the ability to plan and execute.
    • Graduate-level student (PhD preferred) in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or other related disciplines
    • Excellent understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, specifically deep learning techniques, like CNN, RNN, LSTM, and reinforcement learning is required.
    • Experience in applying these techniques for time series prediction, image processing, and video analytics will be very helpful.
    • Expertise in developing deep learning applications using libraries and platforms, such as Keras, TensorFlow and Theano, is required.
    • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, Java, or a similar language is required.
    • Candidates that have published in top-tier conferences or journals (e.g. NIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ICCV, SIGKDD, ICDM, ICLR, PAMI, JMLR, TACL, IJCV) will be preferred.
    • Communicate in English effectively, both verbally and written.
