    Your challenge

    As People Research Expert within Philips Lighting Design you ensure innovations at Philips Lighting are meaningful to people with a strong focus on the Americas (North and South Americas). You are an energetic and optimistic ambassador of people centred research, you can enthusiastically explain the benefits of people research, and persuade peers to work accordingly. Be a strategic thinker. Uncover deep insights to translate and build them into envisioned experiences that matter to people, and help guide the creation of valuable solutions. Your challenge is to make this happen by applying your expertise in multiple research approaches, and using your facilitation and communication skills to make outcomes actionable for multiple stakeholders.

    Your responsibilities:

    In this exciting hands-on role, you further help build and shape the People Research competence and team within Philips Lighting Design throughout all four phases of development. Help develop the People Research capabilities in Design and actively participate in a broader Community of Practice. Inspire people to create human-focused innovations. Use existing methods and tools from Philips Lighting Design as well as bringing in new approaches to identify people’s changing needs, behaviors, and underlying motivations as part of a larger customer connection strategy.

    Define, conduct and translate people research for strategy, vision and innovation purposes. Co-create with designers and other internal and external stakeholders as well as the end-user to envision desirable future experiences. Your focus will be mid- to long-term innovations across Americas Philips Lighting Business Groups, and you will support landscaping new value spaces.

    About you:

    • Having a degree in Design, Social and Behavior sciences, Psychology, or a strong background in the role we mean to fill, preference for a Master
    • Minimal 3 year hands-on work experience in areas focused on innovation, strategic design with a co-creation and people-focused mindset and a strategic thinker, ideally with experience in a lighting context.
    • You are a strong believer in the benefits of co-creation and people research.
    • You are a truly curious person who naturally cares about people and their well-being.
    • Assertive, collaborative, creative, diplomatic, empathic, enthusiastic, humble, observant, open, patient, personable, persuasive, pragmatic, resilient, tenacious, thorough.
    • Recognized for your expertise and talent in a diverse set of research approaches like observational, online and social media-related and design research.
    • Strong in combining quantitative and especially qualitative people knowledge analytics, as well as creative research and translation tools.- Affinity with qualitative collection and analytics tools, illustrator, InDesign, and movie-related storytelling.
