INTRODUCTION

We're looking for a talented Industrial Designer intern to join our Design team at iRobot. Our group is responsible for defining the physical and digital experiences of iRobot. The Design Intern will work with us across ID, UI, UX and design researchers to assist our team in product design and development.

This is a full-time internship that will start in February 2022 and go through the summer; 40 hours per week, M-F at a hybrid capacity in our Bedford, MA office. Students must be within a commutable distance to the office.

This role will support ID team to lead the design effort on projects from early concept through production including: design and consumer research; competitive marketplace analysis; and industrial design concept exploration, refinement, communication, & documentation. Design Intern is expected to work cross functionally with other industrial designers, UX/UI designers, engineers, researchers and visual designers to create tangible design solutions, and inform prototype development. We are looking for students with...

• Strong interest in understanding of form, function, visual composition, and conceptual integrity.
• High proficiency in a 3D programs and rendering program - Solidwors & Keyshot or similar are required.
• High proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite is required.
• The ability to communicate design concepts through hand sketches, mock-ups
• Eye for clean, visually impactful designs that are current and fresh.
• A great sensitivity to color, aesthetics, and materiality, and the ability to translate trends into compelling products.
• The ability to quickly build strong relationships within and across organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Students must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in industrial design, industrial engineering, product design, or related field.
• Must have the ability to work full-time from February onward and be within a commutable distance to our Bedford, MA office.
