    Position Overview:

    This role is a Co-Op position within the Analytical and Quality Assurance group at Living Proof. The qualified individual will perform Quality Control testing, and support the analytical requirements of both the Discovery and Product Development groups. This is a unique and challenging role, allowing for lots of training and hands-on instrumental analysis. This position will report to the Head of Analytical, and is a paid, full time, 6 month position based in Cambridge, MA. The work will require 40 hours per week and will start in January 2019 extending through June 2019.

    Major Roles/Project Responsibilities:

    • Supports Analytical & QA department for all QA/QC needs
    • Performs sample preparation, NIR, HPLC and GPC analysis of validated QC methods based on GLP/GMP guidelines
    • Assists with method development, method transfer, and method validation for new GC/MS
    • Supports product stability program with sample preparation and analysis on all existing/new formulations
    • Develops new HPLC/IR methods of analysis of hair, including (but not limited to): extractions, sample preparation and clean up, SPE, trace materials detection, microscopy, analysis of surface materials
    • Assists in building instrumentation data libraries and calibration models
    • Prepares laboratory standards, reagents, mobile phases, and performs basic lab maintenance
    • Participates in group/interdisciplinary meetings to communicate relevant results
  • Qualifications

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Progress towards a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Biology or related field, with completion of higher level or graduate chemistry laboratory coursework.

    Skills/Abilities:

    • Exhibits a fundamental understanding of chemistry plus a breadth of knowledge of modern analytical chemistry topics
    • Demonstrates ability to work in a chemistry lab environment
    • Self-starter motivated to work under direct supervision but also work independently on well defined tasks
    • Good problem solving and experimental design skills
    • Demonstrates an innovative spirit along with the ability to apply technical knowledge in insightful and creative ways
    • Very strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills
    • Exhibits excellent organization, planning and multi-tasking skills
    • Preferred: hands on experience in selected analytical techniques including one (or more) of the following: HPLC, LC-MS, NIR, GPC, GC, GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR, UV/VIS
