West Hills, CA (Hybrid 3 days onsite/2 days remote)

The Communications Specialist will help scale and grow the company’s brands by assisting in the development and implementation of integrated communications and influencer plans. Additionally, this person will help meet the company’s growing need for digital content while providing logistical support for virtual, hybrid and in-person meetings, as well as conferences and speaking engagements. This person will be a key member of the team that rolls out communications/public relations/digital strategies to reach both internal and external audiences with key messages in support of organization priorities and goals, leveraging best practices. The Communications Specialist reports to the Communications Manager.

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

• Writes, edits and works on multiple internal and/or external communications projects simultaneously.

• Serves as an internal event and logistics planner with a focus on the key events and group meetings.

• Anticipates and helps manage key communications issues which includes writing materials and messaging.

• Participates, attends, represents and/or liaises with external vendors and internal partners to execute promotional events, trade shows, conferences or campaigns.

• Supports the VP, Communications and Public Relations in budget tracking and the annual planning process. 

• Day-to-day management of the company’s various internal communications channels. 

• Responsible for news monitoring and distribution.

The ideal candidate is an out-going self-starter that demonstrates a passion for leading and developing content within internal/external communications.  You are a natural communicator with exceptional organizational, problem solving, and tactical skills.

You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to independently create content, as well as edit team members’ work

• Strong understanding of traditional media, social media, digital media and the influencer ecosystem

• Ability to engage others at all levels of the organization and externally; ability to develop and maintain effective relationships

In order to take on these challenges, you’ll need to have:

• A minimum of 3 years of public relations and communications experience in a PR agency or in-house role in strategic public relations and corporate communications, or comparable experience in the field of journalism

• A BA/BS is required, a degree in communications, journalism or public relations is preferred

• Efficient proofreading and editing skills with knowledge of AP style writing

• Content creation skills and ability to shoot and edit videoplus

• Demonstrated ability working in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple concurrent assignments 

• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work with confidential information
