    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Associate Electronics Engineer - Networks / Electronics Engineer - Networks to join our team in San Diego, CA.

    The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Avionics Integration organization.

    We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Network Engineer to support the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and security of enterprise-level network infrastructures. The selected candidate will contribute to day-to-day network operations, configuration tasks, documentation updates, and hands-on support in labs under the guidance of senior engineers.

    Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Support routine network monitoring and performance checks, including basic troubleshooting.
    • Contribute to maintaining network documentation including diagrams, IP schemas, and configuration baselines.
    • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment.

    The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

    This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Engineer Electronics (T01) or Engineer Electronics (T02).

    Basic Qualifications for an Associate Engineer Electronics (T01)

    A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below

    criteria. The candidate must:

    • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2025.
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar STEM degree.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
    • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

    Basic Qualifications for an Engineer Electronics (T02)

    A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

    • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2025 or is completing or has completed their Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and has 2 years of electronic engineering experience by August 2025.
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar STEM degree.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
    • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher
    • Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP.
    • Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4, routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP), and other networking concepts are essential.
    • Understanding of LAN concepts such as VLANS, trunking (port tagging) and spanning-tree.
    • Good understanding and knowledge of network security features like IP access-lists.
    • A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
    • Familiar with government grade encryption gear such as TACLANES or HAIPES
    • Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS and network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3)
    • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket), Agile and/or Rapid prototyping software methodologies
    • Familiar with current network products and technologies such as routers, firewalls, and switches, CML a plus
    • Working knowledge of DISA security STIGs and maintaining security best practices.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
    • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio

    Pay Range

    • Associate Engineer Electronics (T01): $74,000 - $111,00
    • Engineer Electronics (T02): $89,400 - $134,200
