    Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate/Quality Engineer . This position will be located at our Space sector in Chandler, AZ .

    The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Due to the sensitive nature of our work this is a fully on-site position; hybrid or remote work is not available. Relocation is not offered for this role.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
    • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
    • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
    • Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducting quality assurance tests; and performing statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
    • Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
    • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
    • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
    • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
    • Work with Engineering test sets and ensure proper Quality standards are in place to process hardware.
    • Collaborate with Engineering team for engineering development.
    • Develop corrective action plans for software and hardware processing through plant.
    • Investigate failures internally to identify root cause on flight hardware.
    • Work with technicians to develop root cause findings on flight hardware.
    • Have the ability to implement Kaizan strategies to reduce defect count on manufacturing floor.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications for an Associate Quality Engineer:

    • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite
    • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
    • Problem solving skills
    • Familiarity with TipQa, MES, and CostPoint software
    • Familiarity with Kaizan strategies

    Basic Qualifications for a Quality Engineer:

    • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
    • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
    • Problem solving kkills
    • Familiarity with TipQa, MES, and CostPoint software
    • Familiarity with Kaizan strategies

    Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

    • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
    • Certified in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies
    • Manufacturing process knowledge a plus
    • Experience in planning and organizing activities across multiple manufacturing locations
    • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 Quality ManagementSystems
    • Familiarity or previous certification as an ordnance handler
    • Familiarity or previous certification in IPC 610, IPC 620, J-STD-001
    • Record of increasing responsibility supporting manufacturing, electrical, and mechanical engineering organizations
    • Experience in evaluating circuit card assemblies for workmanship issues
