    Northrop Grumman is seeking Associate Energetics Tooling Engineers . This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Elkton, MD, as part of our Propulsion Systems and Controls Business Unit.

    Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS &C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

    Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore.     Roles/Responsibilities:

    Engineering and design of a wide range of production tooling components for energetic aerospace propulsions systems including molds, lifting devices, handling fixtures, test fixtures, etc.and prepares input for documentation.

    • Coordinates and develops tooling requirements with project engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, quality, etc.
    • Responsible for coordinating tooling fabrication with machine shop and/or vendors, which includes establishment of scope and monitoring projects against planned scope.
    • Responsible for tool use, check out, and follow up in production.
    • Prepare estimates of tooling design and fabrication costs for proposals.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvements to existing designs

    Basic Qualifications:

    This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2. Basic qualifications for an Engineer 1 are a Bachelor’s Degree. Basic qualifications for an Engineer 2 are a Master’s Degree.

    A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

    • Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution by August 2026
    • Be majoring in or having majored in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline
    • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
    • Experience or coursework in CAD and Modeling

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
    • Experience or coursework in stress calculations for support structures
    • Experience or coursework in Siemens NX and TcUA
    • Experience or coursework in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M)
    • Experience or coursework in machine shop fabrication practices and material selection
    • Experience or coursework in MS Suite of products
    • Experience or coursework in Composites and rubber molding
    • Previous internship experience

    Salary Range

    Level 1: $66,200 - $99,200

    Level 2: $79,600 - $119,400
