    If you answered “yes”, the Design Synthesis Department within the Advanced Systems Development Center (ASDC) at Raytheon Missile Systems is interested to find out if you would be a good addition to our Affordability Team. The Design Synthesis department develops art-of-the-possible solutions to grow our business by providing right-sized engineering solutions to solve advanced engineering problems through forward thinking, reliable execution and collaboration.

    We are seeking interns to work with our Affordability group who are able to think analytically, are focused and are quick learners. You should also be a natural problem solver, be able to articulate conclusions from data and information, and be able to interface with teams of diverse stakeholders. The tasks require you to deliver 80% solutions quickly within two-week time windows in a multi-team environment. The candidate must also be open to receiving and acting upon critical feedback.

    U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

    Tasks

    • Gather and analyze cost information to support development of cost estimating models, cost requirements and cost input to trade studies
    • Analyze historical data and develop cost trend lines to predict future costs of commodities and technologies
    • Assist with generating affordability plans to analyze and reduce the cost of military systems
    • Gather cost data from multiple engineering disciplines, including design engineering, safety, reliability, test, suppliers and manufacturing
    • Assist in developing cost models and analysis of cost data
    • Prepare briefings that communicate findings to Raytheon Missile Systems’ leadership and external customers

    Required Skills

    • U.S. Citizenship is required
    • Strong practical and applied use of Excel and other M.S. Office programs (PowerPoint and Word)

    Desired Skills

    • Ability to analyze supplier and commodity cost data to determine cost relationships and trend lines to predict future costs
    • Ability to conduct statistical analysis of linear and curve fit of cost data
    • Ability to understand needs and requirements, determine what’s needed and generate a plan of action to meet expectations
    • Ability to capture the essence of analyses and communicate meaningful conclusions from data and information
    • Ability to organize the information required to prepare cost-related deliverables and reports
    • Ability to work both independently and in team environments
    • Ability to work with a wide range of people and engineering disciplines
    • Strong written and oral presentation skills to communicate affordability analysis and results

    Required Education

    • Junior, Senior, or Post-graduate level standing while pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science or Master’s of Science degree in one of the following: Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar.
