  • Responsibilities

    Position Description

    • Plan and layout some repairs on aircraft and their components based on clearly described work orders, blueprints, manuals and engineering instructions.
    • Assist with the repair, remanufacture, and fabricate high strength primary aircraft structures comprised of advanced composite materials.
    • Knowledge of common composite materials such as aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood, rubber, paints, adhesives, bonding tapes, catalyzed fillers putties, caustics, chemicals, hydrocarbons, acids, phenolics, foam adhesives, forms of high temp Styrofoam, and epoxy.
    • Use of shop equipment such as band saw, high speed routers, sanders, heat cure ovens, electronic temperature controllers, and vacuum systems.
    • Able to use devices such as micrometer, depth gages, and feller gages, protractors, machinist scale, etc. Some honeycomb carving will be done by hand.
    • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
    • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
    • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

    • You will use shop mathematics to layout, develop and manufacture repair parts for structures.
    • You will use devices such as micrometer, depth gages, and feller gages, protractors, machinist scale, etc.
    • You will operate shop equipment such as band saws, drill press, high speed routers, overhead hoist, sanders, heat cure ovens, electronic temperature controllers, heat blankets, heat tables, fork lifts, vacuum pumps.
