DESCRIPTION: Candidate must be a self-starter and very motivated to apply fundamentals of aircraft conceptual design, particularly vehicle configuration layout, aircraft sizing, optimization, trade study execution, and sensitivity analysis. The individual will work with CATIA V5 and legacy analysis systems coupled with the LM Aero Rapid Conceptual Design suite of tools, using them to build aircraft configurations and execute conceptual design trade studies on multiple programs.

Experience and a thorough understanding of aircraft conceptual design is required. The approach used by this individual will determine courses of action for multiple studies and must include, at a minimum, the following attributes: describing model assumptions, using the model to size a vehicle to established constraints, execution of sensitivity studies to requirements and technologies, and establishing fallback positions. Must be a US Citizen, position is located at a facility that requires special access.

DESIRED SKILLS: 

• Programming ability in at least one structured computer language is desired (FORTRAN, C++, or Java).
• Experience with mainstream aerospace CAD tools is a plus but not required.
• Design analysis tasks require coordination with other vehicle analysis disciplines and as a result, clear communication skills are an absolute necessity.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and special program clearances.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Aerospace or Aeronautical engineering or a similar degree with an aeronautics emphasis.
