The Systems Architecture, Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) in Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is seeking candidates for a Co-Op opportunity in SAN DIEGO, CA. This is an opportunity for college students pursuing a STEM degree to begin a career in the design and development of US Navy combat systems on the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) program.

WHAT DOES A SYSTEMS ENGINEER DO?

A Systems Engineer uses engineering and math skills to define the architecture of the system (the “pieces” and how they interact), the performance and functional requirements of the system (what the system must be capable of doing and how well), the subsystem design and requirements (what components are needed and how they must perform), and the integration of the components into the overall system. At Raytheon, Systems Engineers contribute to programs throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from inception to completion, and are applying model based systems engineering and architecture methods on many of today's most advanced-technology systems.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

Participants on the SSDS program would join a multidiscipline engineering team to become acclimated with system engineering and Raytheon engineering practices and processes. The candidates will develop and exercise engineering skills by performing modeling and simulation using MATLAB, requirements development, systems analysis, information assurance, network optimization, and support of software integration and test.

The ideal candidate is working on, or is in the final year of, an undergraduate or graduate aerospace or computer engineering major and possesses strong analytical skills. Relevant experience in systems engineering, algorithm development, data analysis, software integration, information assurance, or network security is beneficial.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
