The Speech, Language, and Multimedia business unit has been a leader in the research, development, and application of natural language processing and machine learning technologies for over 30 years. We perform cutting-edge research and transition our technology into solutions for our customers.

BBN currently has exciting opportunities available for interns to develop state-of-the-art applications and solutions in natural language processing, machine learning, and event forecasting. As a research intern, your responsibilities will include one or more of the following: algorithm development, software development, scripting for data pre-processing, analysis of results, and transitioning research systems into a production environment.

Sample project work: Work in a team to build a system that ingests unstructured text and extracts features suitable for forecasting cyber attacks.

Qualifications:

• Current senior or grad student aspiring towards a MS/PhD degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or relevant field
• Sound knowledge of linguistics, mathematics, and statistics
• Experience programming in some combination of Java, Python, and C++
• An exceptional individual interested in working collaboratively on challenging problems
