Industrial Engineering Intern - Hyper-RF Division

Unlike many other internship programs, we strive to simulate a full-time job, enabling our interns to work hands-on with cutting-edge technology, contribute to meaningful projects, build strong relationships with coworkers, and develop strategic problem-solving skills. Our program is highly selective, hosting only a handful of interns each year, ensuring personalized attention and ample opportunities to work closely with AV team members. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with a passion for production engineering, particularly in the domain of RF technologies. You will be working with the engineers and scientists to develop and test custom solutions for next-gen radar, phased array telemetry, radio, and perimeter intrusion detection technologies.
Responsibilities
• Work with a team of engineers, technicians, and project managers.
• Perform technology research, including trade studies and comparative analysis.
• Analyze production floor efficiency through observations, data collection, and analyses.
• Develop and optimize production floor layouts by conceptualizing spatial configurations.
• Simulate and analyze workflow efficiency by modeling material and personnel flow.
• Critique and improve work instructions, traveler practices, and QA documentation.
• Propose process optimization solutions and execute process implementation logistics.
Requirements
• Must be a high school graduate.
• Due to the nature of this role US Citizenship is required.
• Currently enrolled or recently completed post-secondary program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Willing and able to work on-site at the Germantown, MD AV office for the duration of the internship.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong background and interest in one or more of: industrial engineering, product lifecycle, hardware and software testing, data analysis, process optimization.
Desired Skills
We are looking to hire multiple interns to support a variety of projects, so experience in any of the following areas is desired:
• Experience with manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, testing) and process optimization.
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and/or DMAIC.
• Skills in system integration, data collection, and/or root cause analysis.
• Competency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel or MATLAB.
• Experience with hardware design, assembly, prototype and production test design, and test execution.
• Participation in extracurricular student engineering competitions.
Hourly Rate Range: $20 - $25
