    Position Description

    The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst is the world leader in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) and Naval Aviation Support Equipment (SE). It is part of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and is located on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) in central New Jersey. As the Navy’s lead engineering support activity for ALRE and SE, NAWCAD Lakehurst conducts programs of acquisition management, technology development, systems integration, engineering, rapid prototyping / manufacturing, developmental evaluation and verification, fleet engineering support and integrated logistics support management. Each new hire is placed on a team and aligned with a senior engineer or subject matter expert to perform challenging and rewarding engineering and/or acquisition assignments. Work involves providing a full spectrum of lifecycle responsibility for ALRE and Aviation SE, assuring that fixed and rotary wing aircraft operate safely and effectively from aircraft carriers, air capable ships and expeditionary airfields worldwide. This includes designing, prototyping, testing, sustainment and contracting.     Position Duties/Responsibilities

    • You will advise on, administer, or perform professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with projects, facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices, materials or methods. Employee learns to apply knowledge of the science or art, or both, by which materials, natural resources, and powers are made useful.
    • The employee supports research, development, testing, evaluation, re-engineering, innovation, sustainment, maintenance projects and acquisition involving various disciplines. With specific instruction and direction, the candidate selected performs a limited variety of routines, repetitive tests, procedures, and/or operations which require little previous knowledge or skill in this line of work. These duties enable the employee to become familiar with the operation, design characteristics, and maintenance procedures and acquisition of equipment. Additionally, work assignments are designed to familiarize the employee with the organization, and foster development of professional work habits, in preparation for performing entry-level professional work.
    • The employee works under the close supervision and review of higher level employees and carries out tasks as directed. Supervision is frequently of a tutorial nature. The supervisor reviews the work, both in progress and upon completion, for acceptability, consistency, and conformance to established requirements and standards.

      • Ability to utilize guidelines consisting of a variety of standardized references, guides, directives and established precedents, procedures, regulations and technical manuals to obtain needed information.
