    Position Description

    Airborne Instrumentation Systems Department is currently seeking a Flight Termination System/ Flight Termination Receiver Engineer. Incumbent will serve as Lead Flight Termination Systems Engineer under the Advance TM Technology Branch Code DB31100. The individual(s) selected will support various projects/programs to include AARGM, AARGM-ER, HARM, JSOW, SDB II, HARPOON, etc...

    Key Skills:

    • Experience in development, design, and/or fabrication of telemetry systems
    • Familiarity with Range Control Center (RCC) 319 standards
    • Ability to understand risk and provide and/or employ mitigation tactics
    • Experience troubleshooting and testing at system level down to component level

    Duties:

    Incumbent will provide technical assessments of various Flight Termination Systems (FTS), certify FTS and Flight Termination Receivers (FTR) testing for all China Lake and other test ranges. Candidate will also be expected to provide Telemetry System Engineering Support as required in support of TPOs.

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Providing technical consulting and support to Range Safety Office(s). Support will include supporting Flight Tests events when FTS is required to minimize risk of FTS failures.
    • Collaboration with engineers and technicians in the development of FTS systems test for programs.
    • Coordinating and assisting technical professionals in the development of Acceptance Test Plans and Delta Qualification Test Plans for FTS components
    • Providing troubleshooting and failure analysis of issues found during the testing process. This will also include the candidate’s ability to isolate and conduct tests at system level, subsystem level, board level, and component level.
    • Participating in Systems Engineering Reviews, other Technical Peer Reviews, and document reviews.
    • Adhere to AS9100 processes in designing /creation of electrical schematics, PCB layout, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
    • Mentor Junior Engineers and Technicians
