  • Responsibilities

    Provides strategic Labor Relations advice and counsel to Aeronautics leadership team members supporting the business of approximately 2,500 represented employees located in Marietta, GA, Meridian, MS, Clarksburg, WV. This position will have a unique opportunity to significantly collaborate with veteran and high potential Labor Relations practitioners throughout Lockheed Martin, as well as site technical, engineering, and production operation clients in support of the development, manufacture, and sustainment of the most sophisticated aircrafts in the world.

    This position will:

    • Advise and counsel client organizations in the administration of labor contracts, using metrics and analytics for business based decisions Negotiate and/or support labor negotiating activities in a variety of roles Conducts workplace investigations related to workplace conflict, workmanship, and grievance disputes
    • Advocates arbitrations
    • Executes case preparation and analysis, including just cause standard (pre and post hearing brief), risk mitigation strategy and settlement strategy, arbitration preparation and arbitration advocacy leadership, and stakeholder alignment, including business leadership
    • Advises, counsels and coaches leaders in such areas as: labor contract interpretation and company policy; employee relations, compensation, staffing and workforce planning, and culture in a unionized environment
    • Collaborates with leaders at all levels to create/build capability for represented and non-represented employees and leverages Lockheed Martin cultural principles to do so.
    • Coaches leaders on positive employee relations
    • Interfaces with union representatives to build effective union-company relations
    • Resolves bargaining unit jurisdictional disputes
    • Ensures client organization possesses the necessary workforce volume & capability to effectively and efficiently deliver core services while managing labor cost and developing future bench strength
    • Assist leaders and employees at all levels by developing and consistently demonstrating effective communication and conflict management
    • Advocates for employees
    • Regularly involved in dispute resolution, coaching, discipline process, and people movement
    • Prepares disciplinary summaries including Labor and Employee Relations-led investigations, considers Diversity, Security, and Ethics prepared investigations in preparation of disciplinary action
    • Partners with Human Resources Business Partners and relevant Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COE) to deliver human resources programs and business outcome focused solutions
    • Drives lateral connectivity and collaboration within Human Resources and across the enterprise
    • Delivers data-driven people solutions that are efficient, effective, and flexible

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline from an accredited college
    • Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in US as a permanent resident. This position is located at a facility that requires special access

    • Certification(s) in the labor relations discipline
    • Familiar with HRIS systems and/or PeopleSoft software
    • Capability to engage, influence, collaborate, and develop credibility among functional and program leadership, union leadership, and HR/LER colleagues
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills Effective listening skills
    • Ability to build effective relationships and partner with business leaders to influence labor relations practices at the Marietta and off-site locations, as well as Aeronautics' Labor and Employee Relations, in order to execute labor and employee relations strategy & foundational philosophies
    • Alignment, interest-based, enterprise-oriented; metric focused approach
    • Coach and educate leaders of represented workforce
    • Ability to manage and settle grievances through mutually agreeable outcomes in accordance with collective bargaining agreement
    • Consult and partner with enterprise-wide leaders to achieve strategic and tactical people plans
    • Evaluate, maintain, and enhance positive employee relations between union officials, leaders and employees
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to complete investigations
    • Administer employee discipline as appropriate
    • Develop, interpret, and implement hourly practices that enhance productivity and efficiency
    • Maintain awareness of legal, state, and federal agency requirements to ensure compliance and minimize the potential for litigation and/or agency charges
    • Standardize work to enable consistent performance levels
