    JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is an entry-level internship in the Mechanical Engineering Directorate. This 3 month, full-time Internship starts in May 2019 and completes in August 2019. Duties include assisting mechanical engineers in the design and/or development of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment in the areas of Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering.

    IDS Engineering's MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The MED uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles. Organizational departments are aligned by the various technical disciplines and design products/services they provide:

    • Antenna and Sensors
    • Platform Integration
    • Undersea and Electronic Systems
    • Materials Engineering
    • Rapid Hardware Solutions
    • Manufacturing Engineering

    –U.S. CITIZENSHIP STATUS IS REQUIRED AS THIS POSITION WILL NEED A U.S. SECURITY CLEARANCE WITHIN 1 YEAR OF START DATE.

    Mechanical Engineering performs research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, manufacturing, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development and testing and manufacturing of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

  • Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials Engineering or related field
    • U.S Citizenship is required.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0+ strongly desired
    • Candidate must be able to obtain an Interim Security Clearance
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work well in a team
    • Good computer skills
    • Knowledge of Pro/Engineer
