    Position Description

    The Mission Architect (MA) develops an operational architecture describing the capabilities, the operational activities, operational nodes, and other relevant elements to model the mission. The MA will model the technical requirements and capabilities to identify gaps across the System of Systems (SoS) for assigned missions in order to inform DOD decisions on the future of warfighting capabilities. The MA will build the model of the technical capability baselines needed to support the Fleet in developing future Concepts of Employment (CONEMPs) of how the Navy and Marine Corps will fight future wars.

    Position Duties/Responsibilities

    The MA will be responsible for modeling the SoS capabilities, including sensors, weapons, platforms, and networks. High priority / impact kill chains will be modeled decomposed, evaluated, and assessed to determine warfighting effectiveness, interoperability, and residual gaps in the full Mission context. Further, the MA will identify, evaluate and make recommendations regarding SoS solution options to meet mission requirements across Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, Facilities and Policy (DOTMLPF-P) with particular attention to M-Materiel solutions. The MA may also participate in, associated trade-off studies.

    The MA will work with modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) efforts to further quantify military utility to inform naval investment strategies and Capability Evolution Plans (CEPs).

    Preferred candidates will possess systems level knowledge of multiple platforms, networks and/or sensors, including their role in tactical employment options (e.g. kill chain or effects chain). This person will also be adept at self-study to maintain currency in the assigned mission area and associated technologies, as well as skilled in teamwork and communications. Experience in Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DODAF), Unified Architectural Framework (UAF), Interoperability Support Plans (ISP), and/or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is desired.
