    We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our team for an internship at our Intelligence and Information Systems business location in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

    As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work with talented and experienced engineers to assess the effectiveness of our core systems and software engineering activities to include design and development at the system, subsystem, and component level. Support for these activities will include system and process effectiveness data gathering, benchmarking, analysis, and reporting.

    The primary duties of the intern staff are focused on tasks associated with government intelligence and information systems. Specific tasks will vary based on educational background and experience. Potential tasks include working with program and department staffs to assist with trade studies, define and flow down top-level process requirements, and verify that the process complies with requirements. Tasks may also include assisting mission assurance, quality, and process engineers who have the responsibility to meet project milestones, schedule, and budget.

    The candidate will be expected to apply their engineering knowledge to provide creative and innovative solutions to problems and to ensure that projects are completed on schedule while following established procedures.

    The candidate will liaison with more senior personnel and may act as a coordinator between organizations. The candidate will mitigate risks, assess design costs, apply problem-solving skills, and use lean and six sigma concepts with supervisory review.

  • Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • Computer system familiarity and Microsoft Office skills, i.e. Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Engineering skills to include understanding of computers and computing systems.
    • This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.

    Desired Skills:

    • Working knowledge of VHDL, programmable logic devices, or coursework understanding of Unified Modeling Language (UML), Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA), Object-Oriented Design (OOD), Software Architectures, and Structured Analysis / Structured Design is desired.
    • Experience with real-time embedded software development in Java, C/C++ is beneficial.

    Required Education:

    • Candidate Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering disciplines
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is desired.
