    The Missile Defense & Surveillance Software Department of Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Business in Huntsville, AL is seeking an intern to work with and learn from our engineers on some very challenging projects. Our software teams employ a combination of traditional and Agile Scrum processes to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities on a continuous basis into a mature solution for our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms. This work could include any combination of design, development, integration, or testing of complex systems. The work is accomplished in a team setting using various development environments and tools.

    This is an invaluable opportunity to grow your knowledge of the technologies that we use such as C++, Linux, Automated Test, and UML to meet customer needs. Advance your educational experience and career by honing your skills and working on Agile Scrum teams. Get hands-on experience with our products by participating in the full lifecycle of product development from architecture and requirements to design, implementation, and integration. Work in an engineering organization recognized by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) as having achieved CMMI Maturity Level 5, which is the highest software engineering process maturity level that the SEI recognizes. You will have a meaningful assignment that will complement your education, past work experience and potentially lead to a long-term career at Raytheon.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Prerequisite coursework or experience with the C++ programming language
    • Candidate should have appropriate courses and experience (work or school projects) that have prepared them to undertake real work and make a meaningful contribution in a professional software engineering environment
    • Candidate should be proficient with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Good oral and writing skills
    • U.S. Citizenship required
    • This position requires the ability to gain an active U.S Security Clearance as of day one of employment
    • GPA of 3.0 or better

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Previous SW related co-op / internship experience
    • Prerequisite coursework or experience with the Java programming language
    • Strong desire to learn and contribute in a teaming environment
    • Students are encouraged to attach a list of completed coursework/transcript with their application

    REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING MAJOR):

    Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited degree program working toward a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and maintain a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
