    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Raytheon Applied Signal Technology is a diversified intelligence and defense company that develops systems to provide integrated sensor and signal processing products in support of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

    Our Engineering Division has a need for an Engineering Intern to design, build, integrate, and maintain advanced high-capacity systems that process modern high-speed communications for the US intelligence community. The successful candidate will also have a solid understanding of concepts related to networking, software architecture, and standard programming practices.

    The candidate will work with experienced developers in our Salt Lake City office for the protection of our country. The successful candidate will also generate briefings and present material clearly to team members, customers, and Raytheon Applied Signal Technology management as necessary.

    This is a part time position, up to 20 hours per week.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Experience in C/C++
    • Working knowledge of Linux or Unix
    • Software development experience (i.e. internship, co-op, team based projects, etc.)
    • Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
    • Experience with multi-threaded code
    • Experience verifying and validating the software and system work as intended
    • Experience working both in a team environment and individually
    • Experience developing, coding, testing, and debugging complex algorithms
    • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
    • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
    • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases
    • Exposure to Communications Systems and theory and Signal Processing concepts
    • Experience with Object Oriented Design and Development
    • Experience with Configuration Management tools, such as git
    • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Perl
    • Experience with UI development
    • Experience with Qt
    • Experience and/or knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP
    • Experience with or basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing
    • Experience with system-level integration and testing, specifically, the integration of advanced, custom processing systems, testbeds, and software

    REQUIRED EDUCATION (INCLUDING MAJOR): Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
