  • Responsibilities

    The Industrial Engineering intern supports production and manufacturing processes in a team-based environment. The individual drives process improvements across multiple manufacturing and transactional processes by designing, improving, and implementing integrated systems of people, materials, and equipment. The individual draws upon the specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences, together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.

    The individual leads or co-leads initiatives which incorporate best practices in areas such as Lean Six Sigma to eliminate process variation and waste and enable increase in capacity, reduction in lead-time, improved process flow and gains in efficiencies.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Knowledge of analytics, modeling, human factors, factory design, capacity analysis
    • Knowledge of and desire to work in a manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge in Advanced level Excel
    • Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2019
    • U.S. CITIZENSHIP STATUS IS REQUIRED AS THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE THE ABILITY TO ACCESS US ONLY DATA SYSTEMS.
    • THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE ELIGIBILITY TO OBTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE. EXCEPT IN RARE CIRCUMSTANCES, ONLY U.S. CITIZENS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A SECURITY CLEARANCE.

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving and Strong Oral and written communication skills

    • Arena simulation modeling
    • Knowledge in Visio

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    • Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Major, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
