SR. LEARNING DESIGNER

Contractor 6-month term, option to extend

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As part of Udemy’s Learning Design team, this highly-consultative role will focus on driving excellence with our network of external instructors and course authors to build amazing Udemy courses. This role requires a unique blend of experience and expertise including learning design consulting, learning content development, project management, working cross-functionally with multiple internal stakeholders, and driving results with a network of key external partners and vendors.

You understand learning principles and how to translate expert concepts into meaningful and elegant learning design and content. You understand what excellent learning design is and you know how to move quickly from concept to outline to development schedule. You have a proven track record of consulting on large-scale and/or enterprise-wide learning projects across assessment, design, development, and delivery. You have deep experience working with instructors, course authors, university faculty and other subject matter experts to build great courses and content. You’ll be working with multiple instructors and experts to ensure Udemy’s course development process results in amazing, market-leading courses.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Drive the relationship with Udemy instructors and course authors from the moment they’ve committed to creating a course to course go live. This includes helping instructors design and develop their course outlines, relevant applied learning resources and activities, and related course content

• Provide exceptional learning design consulting as a thought partner to help Instructors bring their content, ideas and expertise to life.

• Co-create learning resources, toolkits, and playbooks with a focus on applied learning.

• Manage the course development process end-to-end including project management, setting timelines, and driving the production team (graphics, video)

WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE:

• Experience developing courses and content for online delivery

• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to identify and frame issues, synthesize information, and draw insightful conclusions.

• Exceptional project management and organization skills: the ability to move multiple projects to the finish line at the same time and on schedule.

• Great communication skills and the ability to create and foster strong relationships.

• Excellent verbal, written, proofreading, and editing skills

• 5+ years of professional experience in instructional design, curriculum development and/or teaching.

• Understanding of instructional design, online learning, and adult pedagogy principles and techniques. Bonus points for having formal training and/or an advanced degree in instructional design, learning science, or related disciplines.

• Experience developing content for an online environment. Bonus points for applied learning, project based learning, and assessment development experience.
