    Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Master’s degree in Geography; or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Geography (GEO, GEA course prefixes). Previous online teaching experience is desirable, but not essential. All faculty must supply their own computer equipment (specifications to be provided) and Internet access. All faculty must be willing to complete an online faculty development course and orientation prior to teaching.


    Essential Functions/Duties:

    • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Basic Course Information sheets.
    • Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
    • Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
    • Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/ or select course-related materials.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
    • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
    • Computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES    

    • Process payroll records for new employees
    • Make required changes to employee information such as change of address, withholdings, or regular deductions
    • Prepares and distributes payroll checks on appropriate dates as directed
    • Prepares manual payroll checks as required
    • Processes unemployment verification requests as appropriate
    • Maintain current tax information for federal and state as appropriate
    • Filing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll taxes by the due date
    • Filing of union benefit reports by the due date
    • Prepare and file payroll garnishments
    • Review WC wages and prepare accruals
    • Review ex-pat wages and prepare accruals for tax equalization
    • Scan and index documents into electronic imaging for storage
    • Performs other related duties as required

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
    • Knowledge and basic understanding of payroll, including unions, and payroll tax laws

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
    • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift
    • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
    • Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.
    • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
