WBUR's Morning Edition is looking for an Associate Producer to join our morning news team which greets our audience every morning with up-to-the-minute newscasts, in-depth reporting and stories, and illuminating conversations with newsmakers and members of our community that help our audience better understand this region and the world. The Associate Producer generates ideas and advances stories, conducts desk reporting, and interviews newsmakers and other news sources in service of our newscasts and WBURs overall news gathering. The Associate Producer writes stories primarily for broadcast and occasionally for digital platforms. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines in early morning hours with an ambitious, collaborative team.

    • A commitment to journalism fundamentals, including accuracy, fairness, respect, honesty and independence on air and online (for more, see WBURs ethics guidelines).
    • Critical thinking.
    • Creative, editorially nimble, detail-oriented, dogged in pursuit of the news, and sharply focused on audience sensibilities.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills across multiple platforms.
    • Ability to efficiently prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledgeable about Greater Boston news and issues.
    • Demonstrated commitment to fact-checking.
    • Proficiency in audio editing.

    Required Skills

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent on-the-job experience; 1-3 years of related experience required. Working hours are 4:30AM 12:30PM. This role is primarily in-office, but with some opportunities for remote work.
