  • Responsibilities

    The Department of Special Education is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Professor to teach our graduate-level course: Strategies for Gifted Learners. This is a Part-Time position that is fully remote. This role is critical in preparing educators to apply research-based instructional strategies to educate gifted students. The course is part of a 4 course endorsement certificate.

    The ideal candidate will combine academic rigor with practical experience, delivering engaging instruction in an asynchronous online environment to accommodate working professionals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Instructional Delivery: Prepare and execute engaging weekly modules to be presented in an asynchronous format.
    • Student Support: Provide timely feedback on assignments, hold virtual office hours, and mentor students on best practices in the field.
    • Compliance: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and final grading in accordance with university policy.

    Required Skills

    • Academic Credentials: A doctoral degree in education or education leadership from an accredited institution. Endorsement or degree in gifted education.
    • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep familiarity with research-based strategies used to teach gifted students.
    • Online Proficiency: Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS). SU utilizes CANVAS.
    • Experience: Three or more years of experience teaching gifted students.
