  • Responsibilities

    Each summer, Iona College hosts hundreds of guests from all over the United States as well different countries. The Office of Conference Services is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to ensure that our clients are completely satisfied with their experience at Iona College. Our primary goal is to ensure that information is successfully communicated between our clients, our office and other departments on campus in a timely manner. It is also our responsibility to meet the needs of each group while maintaining the interests of the College.

    The Summer Conference Assistant serves as a liaison between the Office of Conference Services, providing excellent customer service, maintaining daily contact with external clients and to check and report on any possible issues, problems or concerns.

    • Assist with day to day needs of summer programs which can include, but not limited to, check-in and check-out; handle key & maintenance problems; housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms, making beds and changing linens etc
    • Maintain detailed, accurate records of room and key assignments to ensure proper client billing
    • Provide front desk coverage throughout the day and assistance to summer programs after normal working hours including overnight, if necessary
    • Monitor use of dining halls to include: greeting guests, assisting with attendance counts, regulating traffic flow, cleaning tables and identifying & solving problems
    • Offer support at events such as graduations, dance performances and other social functions
    • Perform room inspections and other duties for both the arrival as well as the departure of each group in the residence halls
    • Create and hang appropriate directional and informational signs for summer programs
    • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned while working in the office

    • Ability to work well with peers
    • Extensive knowledge of Iona College campus and surrounding area
    • Minimum age 18 years old.
    • Ability to perform minimal physical labor and lift up to 25 lbs.
    • All SCAs must commit to be employed during the entire summer conference season. The season runs from SUNDAY, MAY 24 – THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 2020.
    • All SCAs must agree to submit a background check.
    • All SCAs must be available to work at least three nights per week, during the hours of 6PM- 11 PM.
    • All SCAs must abide by Iona College policies including Residential Life policies if living in the residence halls. Although it is not requirement, it is recommended that SCAs live in the residence halls during the summer conference season. Should you decide to live in the residence halls, $35 per week will be deducted from your pay check.
    • All SCAs must attend mandatory training sessions taking place the week of MAY 24, 2020. Dates of training session to be determined.
