Description: Do you live and breathe character animation? Do you have a soft spot for robots as characters? Are you currently a student or recently graduated? If the answer is yes, Anki has an internship program just for you. This summer we are offering a full-time, paid, 3 months character animation internship at our San Francisco headquarters. We are looking for hardworking, passionate students who can demonstrate great acting, character performance, and problem-solving skills. This is an opportunity to work side-by-side with our award-winning Vector team and be mentored by the animators who brought the robot Vector to life. Vector is a unique project that brings two fascinating worlds of robotics and character animation together with great commercial and critical success. Our interns will get a chance to learn our process, brainstorm ideas, animate robots, and gain a new perspective on animation. Responsibilities: Animate our robotic characters using innovative 3D animation techniques. Help define the character & personality of our robots Design their emotional core, character performance and how they react to the world around them. Collaborate with: Game design | on gameplay states and events. Playtesting | on emotional engagement with real people. Engineering | on custom robot animation authoring tools & systems. Audio Designers | on character-based audio assets and events. Producers | on meeting deadline, achieving team goals and supporting other teams. Help develop characters that feel believable and alive. Qualifications: Must be actively enrolled at a school or was enrolled in the last 12 months. Strong sense of character performance and acting. Must be able to animate in a 3D software, preferably Autodesk Maya. Good grasp on the 12 principles of animation. 2D animation tool expertise (e.g. AfterEffects) is a plus. Technical abilities such as rigging and scripting are a plus. Great collaborator. Able to demonstrate brainstorming skills.
