Outreach Specialis Job Description Educational Outreach - Access ASU is
currently hiring an Educational Outreach Specialist, to provide
leadership and support to operations of Access ASU programs, which will
include, but will not be limited to SciHub, summer programs and other
outreach activities. All of the programs in Outreach focus on preparing
students for enrollment and success at ASU. The ideal candidate must
work well independently in a fast-paced, flexible environment, provide a
high level of customer service to both the university and external
communities, and make strong contributions both as an individual and as
a team player. This position requires evidence of effective time
management skills and success in being accountable for specific

Duties Specific duties and responsibilities may include, but are not
limited to: - Work as part of a team to support Access ASU programs and
goals; develop strategic action plans in accordance with Access ASU
program objectives. - Lead the development and implementation of SciHub,
summer programs, workshops, meetings, conferences, online offerings and
other university opportunities that promote college knowledge and
readiness for K-12 schools, students and families for Access ASU
programs and initiatives. Monitor operations, logistics, and scheduling.
- Serve as an expert for area of assignment including, but not limited
to: SciHub, summer programs, college readiness and outreach. - Develop
and implement a strategic plan to ensure continued engagement with
student participants and families with the goal of increasing affinity
and enrollment to ASU. - Provide supervision, training and leadership to
assigned student staff to ensure successful development and
implementation of assigned programs. - Recruit program participants to
enroll in SciHub, summer programs, conferences, workshops and online
offerings. Assist with marketing and recruitment efforts targeted at
growing the number of participants of Access ASU programs. - Work with
ASU Web Development team to create and maintain the SciHub website. -
Develop and lead application review processes for assigned programs. -
Develop and deliver training and professional development in the area of
college readiness to K-12 administrators, teachers, counselors,
community members and student employees. - Consult with staff, students
and others to provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance,
answer questions about program and unit and provide excellent Sun Devil
Service. Resolve or assist with the resolution of sensitive and/or
complex issues. - Lead application review processes and participant
communications for programs. - Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with other Outreach staff, K-12 schools, community
organizations, ASU students, faculty, and staff to effectively implement
programs and strategic initiatives. - Evaluate program effectiveness to
develop and implement improved methods and outcomes; analyze results,
develop reports and recommend actions to ensure delivery of high quality
programs to K-12 students, schools and families. Work to ensure the
gathering of quality student participation information in support of
Access ASU goals. - Generate necessary reports documenting, monitoring
progress towards Access ASU goals, and tracking for ensuring all aspects
of function/program are implemented and controlled according to plans. -
Assist with preparing budget proposals, recommendations, tracking
expenditures and approvals where appropriate. - Travel to off-campus
meetings and events regularly, using personal vehicle. Applicant must
have a current Drivers License and vehicle. - Represent Access ASU at
events and serve on various department and university committees. -
Perform other duties as assigned. Work location is primarily at the ASU
Tempe campus however, incumbent will regularly be required to drive
personal vehicle to off-campus events and other ASU campuses to perform
work. During the implementation of summer programs, incumbent may be
required to live on-campus. Work schedule will be flexible, depending on
when programs are offered, to include nights and weekends. On days when
programs are not offered, work schedule will be Monday Friday 8 a.m.-5
p.m. committees. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a field
appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of related
experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or
education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have
been achieved. Desired Qualifications - Evidence of a Master's degree in
education or related field - Evidence of being able to speak, write and
read in Spanish/English (Bilingual) - Experience working with K-12
school systems and/or higher education systems - Experience working with
diverse K-12 student populations (including first generation, lowincome,
and scholar) - Experience recruiting for summer programs and/or outreach
programs - Experience developing and/or implementing college readiness
programs - Experience providing training or professional development -
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills -
Experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing workload Working
