    Research Advancement Administrator 45448BR Campus: Downtown Phoenix Resrch Advancement Admin Job Description The primary role of the Research Advancement (RA) staff is to support one or more functional areas within the College of Health Solutions (CHS) by providing direct support to research investigators in the area of proposal preparation and grants management. This position will also serve as a liaison across campus between colleges, schools, departments and research investigators in their interactions with the Office of Research and Sponsored Project Administration (ORSPA). Under general direction, performs sponsored project unit role and work of considerable difficulty in interfacing with department/unit faculty to develop for submission funding proposals to various federal and state agencies, foundations and industrial firms. Assists in identifying funding opportunities that support departmental/unit research goals. Partners with Principal Investigator's and the Office for Research & Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) to negotiate grants and contracts and assists ORSPA with administration of unit awards. Advises Project Directors on financial management issues, and when appropriate resolves complex problems with Project Directors, internal offices, and sponsors. Supports customer groups and other internal university stakeholders. May represent organization on specific projects. Salary Range $42,480 - $56,000 per year; DOE Close Date 19-September-2018 Category 02 Essential Duties The duties for this RA position will be primarily related to the Post-Award processes; however, other tasks may be assigned as the needs of the department change. Essential duties are as follows: - Providing guidance and assistance in preparing administrative post award management including At-Risks Accounts, Pre-Award Costs, re-budgets, No Cost Extensions, and all other Office of Research and Sponsored Program AF actions - Purchasing and monitoring of PCard transactions - Account monitoring and reconciling, Expense Transfers, Effort Reporting - Serving as a resource to research investigators and departmental business staff on sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds - Reading award documents to determine restrictions and other pertinent information - Monitoring compliance issues and assisting in resolution - Reviewing reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements - Managing awarded projects in accordance with University and Sponsor regulations - Preparing standard and non-standard accounting reports for the ASU research investigators. - Account close out - Acting as administrative resource to ASU research investigators - Performing other duties that may be assigned: - Performing funding searches to help identify opportunities - Preparing sponsor budget forms or creating acceptable budget formats and justifications - Assisting and completing other sponsor required forms and review for compliance (current and pending support, facilities) - Completing administrative information according to sponsor guidelines - Completing and routing all internal forms using information provided by PI/Unit - Verifying cost sharing required by sponsor - Assisting with other Pre-Award tasks such as proposal review, submission to Office of Research and Sponsored Administration - Assisting with post submission action items requested by the sponsor - Providing assistance, guidance and counsel during development, pre-submission administrative review, management, authorization and transmittal of grant and contract proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies to verify and ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial compliance requirements. - In conjunction with and in support of ORSPA, provides assistance and support securing additional information during negotiations as necessary; reads ard documents to determine restrictions and other pertinent information - Assisting ASU research investigators with renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies. Working in conjunction with ORSPA and ASU research investigator to ensure timely and accurate post-award accounting of grants and contracts; reviewing reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements - Managing awarded projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations; prepares standard and non-standard accounting reports for the ASU research investigators. - Acting as administrative resource to ASU research investigators and ORSPA staff to resolve problems and correct errors in fund management to ensure timely collection of revenue through accurate presentation of invoices - Maintaining all applicable project records and files; decides proper handling of financial transactions; approving transactions within designated limits. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Three years of experience in a field appropriate to the area/unit of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.
