    Join the Raclin Murphy Museum Team at the University of Notre Dame - Home to one of the nation’s oldest and most esteemed academic art museums!

    The Raclin Murphy Museum is in the search of someone who cares for and appreciates pieces of history. The position of Art Handler will work both independently, and in a team setting under the guidance of the Chief Preparator. This position specializes in the care, matting, framing, transportation, and installation of works on paper. This role is integral to preserving and presenting delicate artworks, including drawings, prints, and photographs. As part of an academic museum dedicated to preservation, research, and education, the Art Handler will ensure the safety and longevity of the collection. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of best practices for handling, packing, and installing art, ensuring its safety in both storage and exhibition settings. This position requires precision, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of art stewardship.

    Qualifications

    • Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
    • Experience: 3 to 4 years
    • Degree Qualifications: Studio Art, Graphic Design, or a related field.
    • Skill Qualifications: Knowledge of art museum standards for collections care and safe art handling, archival hinging, matting, and framing. Lift at least 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working on ladders or lifts. Possess a current driver’s license.

    Pay range: $22-$26 an hour, commensurate with experience
