Assistant Dean, Marketing and Communications School of Public Health
The Assistant Dean for Marketing and Communications reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Finance, Administration and Business Operations of the School of Public Health and serves as the School's subject matter expert in marketing and communications. In close partnership with the dean and senior leadership, the Assistant Dean is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously strengthening an integrated marketing and communications department that advances the School's reputation, visibility, enrollment goals, strategic priorities, internal communications and story of impact. The Assistant Dean collaborates with associate deans, unit directors, faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and University partners. The role requires strong executive judgment, the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, and the capacity to translate institutional priorities into clear, polished, audience-specific communications. The Assistant Dean monitors and promotes the School's positioning in the marketplace, coordinating its branding and messaging with Boston University counterparts. The Assistant Dean also provides counsel and recommendations on reputational issues and crisis management to the Dean and Senior Leadership at BUSPH. The Assistant Dean leads a team of marketing and communications professionals responsible for School marketing, media relations, branding, web and digital media, social media, video production, editorial content, recruitment marketing, and strategic communications initiatives. The Assistant Dean ensures that the Marketing and Communications team functions as a central service provider for the School, also contributing to strategic decisions as needed.
