    Job Description

    Summary of Position : Responsible for operating, maintaining and managing the Athletic Facilities operation in the evening.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the operations of the Athletic Facilities Department evenings; notify Security as needed, enforce policies and procedures and respond to first aid needs.
    • Interview, hire, train and schedule student assistants for on-campus employment.
    • Responsible for facility set-up, breakdown and game management for all intercollegiate contests and special events to be held in Augsburg Athletic Facilities; includes some cash responsibility; includes covering game management duties for Athletic Directors in their absence.
    • Operate the Zamboni and train student staff to operate the Zamboni.
    • Operate the ice edger and train student staff to operate the ice edger.

    ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

    • Periodically check ice and environmental conditions, facility cleanliness, maintenance equipment, make assessments and respond according to existing policy to provide a safe environment.
    • Communicate with the Director and Managers of Athletic Facilities in concerns with safety, liability and maintenance needs.
    • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Typical work environment is an athletic facility.
    • Regular computer and phone use.
    • Frequently smell, see, listen to evaluate facility and safety conditions.
    • Sedentary work for long periods of time.
    • Infrequent carrying, climbing, crouching, lifting, pulling, standing, grasping.
    • Exposure to temperature extremes: from ice arena to gym.
    • Exposure to noise level extremes: compressor room, ice rink, Melby.
    • Exposure to irritating substances: Hockey smell.
    • Long or irregular hours: 7-day operation, year round.
    • Lighting extremes: 1000 watt lights.
    • Exposure to cold, dampness, odor
    • Intense work environment: hostile customers.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • BA/BS
    • 3 years Ice Arena experience required.
    • CPR and First Aid certifications required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Computer knowledge.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude.
    • Oral and written communication.
    • Organization and planning skills.
