    Job Description

Augsburg University’s APA-accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program invites applications for a core faculty position to begin in August 2023. Our program trains students using a practitioner-scholar model, with a firm grounding in social justice. Multiculturalism is a core value of our program and is woven throughout our curriculum and practicum training experiences. This full-time program offers small class sizes and a cohesive, egalitarian faculty.

Responsibilities for this full-time position (11-month appointment) will include teaching, scholarship, service to the university, and academic advising. Classes are generally offered on weekdays, with occasional evening classes. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated competence and expertise in psychotherapy. They will be expected to lead psychotherapy practicum seminars and teach one or more theory and therapy courses. Specific psychotherapy courses taught will depend on the candidate’s clinical background and training, but may include: Person-Centered & Experiential Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Systems Psychotherapy, Basic Intervention Skills, Assessment and Treatment of Children & Families, Assessment and Treatment of Diverse Populations, or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Candidates with additional interest and expertise in any one of the following areas will be very competitive: cultural and individual diversity, child/adolescent mental health, psychological assessment, and psychological foundations (e.g., physiological psychology, history & systems). In addition to psychotherapy courses and seminars, the candidate would have the opportunity to teach courses relevant to their additional area(s) of expertise. Candidates will also be expected to mentor students and advise student clinical research projects.

This position will start as non-tenure track, but has the possibility of becoming a tenure track position in the future, pending institutional needs, applicant interest and career goals. The majority of our faculty are licensed psychologists and are afforded one day per week for professional practice and/or scholarship.
