    Job Description

    The Augsburg University Communication Studies, Film, and New Media Department invites applications for present and future adjunct positions teaching 1-2 classes a semester in one or more of the following content areas: film foundations, film production, editing with Adobe, cinematography, film sound, studio production, new media, animation, documentary, electronic literature, web design, and/or game design.

    Augsburg's Communication Studies, Film, and New Media department is distinctive as an active, liberal arts program in the middle of a vibrant, urban arts and media community. We offer programs in film production, film studies, new media, promotional communication, web design, and game design. 

    The successful candidate will possess both a high level of intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive practice and authentic representation. We value collaborations with media professionals, as they provide resources and opportunities for student learning and professional development. Candidates are encouraged to highlight skills and experiences that demonstrate these abilities and experiences.

    RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

    • Teaching undergraduate major courses and lower division, non-major courses.
    • Using the learning management system (Moodle) for grading and supplemental course content.
    • Responding to student inquiries and holding regular office hours to interact with students.

      

    Course syllabus with learning outcomes, textbook and shared office space are provided.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelors degree and significant professional experience; or Ph D or MFA in Film, New Media or related field.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience required.  Professional activity may be corporate, artistic and/or scholarly.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Ph D or MFA in Film, New Media or related field.
    • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
