    Job Description

    Augsburg University invites applications for a one-year instructor or visiting assistant professor of history position in Modern World History, East Asia, and China. The appointment begins August 23, 2023. 

    The teaching load is seven courses per year. The person filling this position will be expected to teach three entry-level world history surveys, plus additional undergraduate courses within their area of specialization. Upper-level courses should encompass various topics in Chinese and East Asian history. Possibilities exist for cross-listing course offerings with programs in international relations; gender, sexuality, and women's studies; environmental studies; religion and philosophy; and critical race and ethnicity studies.

    ABD in History or related fields. 

    Preferred Qualifications

    A Ph.D. in History or related fields as well as teaching experience and interdisciplinary expertise.

    The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
