    Job Description

    The Augsburg University Department of Communication Studies, Film, and New Media invites applications for a renewable 1-year full-time, non-tenure-track instructor position in communication studies beginning August 2023. The Department cultivates engaged citizens who can confidently create and critically examine messages and narratives in diverse contexts and media. Our students learn responsible communication practices, problem-solving, and critical inquiry, leaving with tools to be ethical and effective communicators in our modern world. We believe in fostering the development of inclusive and equitable communities through skillful communication.

    The successful candidate will teach a seven (7) course load per academic year in Public Speaking, Business and Professional Communication, Scientific and Technical Communication, Introduction to Communication Studies, and Mass Media and Popular Culture; other course opportunities may be available based on the candidate's expertise. The Department is specifically looking for a passionate instructor who is enthusiastic about teaching students in their first year of college.

    • Master's Degree in Communication Studies required; Ph.d. preferred
    • Prior teaching or mentoring experience
    • Prior experience with teaching online
    • Demonstrates commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching practices
