    Supplier Quality EngineerinToano, VAatAvid Medical Date Posted:6/11/2018 -Job Snapshot -Employee Type: Full-Time -Location: Toano, VA -Job Type: Quality -Date Posted: 6/11/2018 -Job Description POSITION SUMMARY Investigates, analyzes and resolves supplierquality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. * Supplier for the scope of this role is defined as a supplier unique to the Clinical Procedural Solutions facilities in Asheville & Williamsburg that are not governed by the Global Sourcing Group ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Works with Purchasing to report regularly supplier performance and ensures timely implementation of corrective actions. 2. Maintains and updates critical supplier audit system and schedule. 3. Conducts supplier audits to help drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement. 4. Monitors, communicates and improves key supply chain key performance indicators (KPIs), including Supplier on Time Delivery (OTD), Past Due, Defective Parts per Million (DPPM) and waste. 5. Along with CPS and functional leadership, establishes specific short-term / long-term supplier quality goals. 6.Champions problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Examples of processes used: Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) and Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA). 7. Works to resolve suppliertechnical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply. 8. Develops long-term supplierrelationships and generates and implements cost reduction ideas. 9. Aides Production and New Products Teams in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliermaterials following a defined new product development process. 10. Leads supplier*performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Owens & Minor expectations and standards. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, Six-Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events. 11. Drives "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base. 12. Develops positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers: Partnership-oriented arrangements. 13. Helps establish and deploy a Closed-Loop Quality Management System that integrates all process modules (Audit, Non-Conformance tracking, Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA), and Change Control) and ensures completion. 14. Participates as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition supplier related Nonconformance Material Reports as required. 15. Participates as a member of the Quality Review Board to present the "Supplier Quality Pulse" to Management. 16. Maintains all supplier files to O&M quality management system standards. SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS: -Performs additional duties as directed. Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: -Four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (prefer major in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) -Four or more years of experience is required -Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred -Or a combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: -Knowledge of Quality System Reviews (QSR), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and U.S. Federal Drug Agency (FDA) regulations -Experience with FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, and related statistical tools -Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production equipment -Ability to write technical documents -Strong interpersonal skills -Ability to work independently and as part of a team -A working knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques -Requires attention to detail and ability to execute to deadlines on multiple projects -Six-Sigma and/or Lean experience preferred (trained or certified) -Working knowledge of SAP and or Oracle Enterprise Resource Platforms (ERP) preferred but not required -Demonstrated proficiency working with computers and the Microsoft operating systems ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: -Position will require some travel, 20-30%; possibly international
