Working under the supervision of the Director, and in collaboration with the staff and faculty of the Learning Enrichment Center, the TUTORING AND SI COORDINATOR manages a campus-wide, academic support system that includes peer tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and provides academic support to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at all APU locations and online.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree with major work in a related field such as science or math (Masterʻs Degree Preferred)
- UMKC Supplemental Instruction Supervisor Training (Preferred)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Three or more years experience in college-level student support services
- At least one year experience as a Supplemental Instruction Leader (preferred)
- At least one year experience as a tutor (preferred)
- Experience with designing and implementing training programs
- Experience organizing, supporting, and leading diverse groups of people
- Knowledge of adult learning theory, multimodal learning theory, and Universal Design for Learning
- Experience developing and maintaining strong working cross-departmental relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Strong organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills.
- Experience with assessment, data collection, and reporting
- Experience working with databases
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with APU faculty and staff to recruit, hire, train and support peer tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and mentors.
- Develop and maintain tutor and Supplemental Instruction leader training materials and oversee development of instructional materials that support student learning.
- Develop and execute peer tutoring and Supplemental Instruction training programs that utilize best practices;
- Supervise, mentor, and support peer tutors and Supplemental Instruction leaders in the development of their para educational and leadership skills in a Christ-centered environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure professional development and student support services that are culturally sensitive and student focused including workshops on academic strategies for student success, for delivery at all APU locations including online.
- Provide scheduling and logistical support for Supplemental Instruction and tutoring programs.
- Market and promote Supplemental Instruction and tutoring services within the APU community to increase attendance.
- Review and approve timecards of tutors and SI leaders
- Collect data on a regular basis to gauge student needs, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each program.
- Provide direct learning support services as needed.
- Assist with test proctoring and responding to student questions as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the LEC Director.
- Some evening and weekend hours required

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
COMPENSATION
- Grade 10: 25.94 - $33.72/hour
