  • Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Executive Team, the Vice President of Outpatient Services has primary oversight of the facility wide quality, risk, infection control and patient safety program specific to assigned outpatient services. Responsible for directing process improvements that support the reduction of risk and medical/clinical errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Provides leadership for all disciplines to include physicians/providers and staff at the Multispecialty Center and other assigned areas. This position is directly responsible for understanding the standards/regulations, monitoring and complying with the updates/changes in the standards and timely communication of the changes with the relevant departments/employees. Collaborates, educates, and engages leaders, employees, and physicians in process improvements. This position cross coordinates data, trends, plans, implements interventions, and outcomes for the Multispecialty Center and other assigned areas. Serves as a liaison with physician leadership and various committees.

    Required Skills

    2. Ability to utilize data to proactively identify patient and provider issues.

    3. Ability to apply knowledge of The Joint Commission, Texas Department of Health, Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services Conditions of Participation and Regulatory Accrediting Agency Standards to assure compliance.

    4. Works well under pressure to quickly improve patient outcomes.

    5. Ability to evaluate patient safety issues and present data to other professionals in a clear concise manner.

    6. Knowledge of hospital systems and organizational relationships.

    7. Strong data management, computer systems and related software application skills.

    8. Skills necessary to build credible and effective relationships with nursing and physician leadership.

    9. Works effectively in teams or alone.

    10. Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components.

    11. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and health care professionals at all levels to achieve established goals, improve quality of patient safety outcomes, and position El Paso Children’s Hospital for optimum success and market leadership.

    Required Experience

    Work Experience

    • Ten (10) years of Director level experience in a hospital setting, with a strong background in compliance, patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement required.
    • Must be familiar with and have knowledge of Department functions, Joint Commission standards, Hospital Nursing and Medical Staff structures and functions, and clinical practices.

    License/Registration/Certification

    • BLS required

    Education and Training

    • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field required.
