    POSITION TITLE:  Nursing Faculty, Simulation

    DEPARTMENT: Entry-Level Masters

    LOCATION:  Inland Empire Regional Campus

    DESCRIPTION: This faculty position supports educational sessions using sophisticated medical simulation technologies including, but not limited to: high and low technology simulators as well as standardized patients, and clinical simulation. The sessions meet the educational/simulation needs of undergraduate and graduate nursing education programs and continuing education needs. Specifically, the simulation faculty is a specialized clinical faculty member who facilitates the simulation experiences and includes operating and maintaining the equipment and supplies used with the high technology simulators. The faculty member along with a simulation technician employ the computer software programs to create the virtual simulation environments. Mastery of the HPS, Gaumard, Laerdal, Valt and Metivision software, and safe operation of the simulation equipment is necessary and required. The simulation faculty will work under the direction of the Director of Simulation and will collaborate with the site/program directors to meet the simulation needs for the multiple programs.  Position subject to final funding.

     

    SPECIALIZATION: Clinical Specialization

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • A simulation faculty is responsible for the care and safe use of the human patient simulators and the related equipment.
    • Direct all simulation activities at the assigned site for multiple programs.  
    • Responsible for reporting all technical or program issues that arise.
    • Participate as a faculty member in the SON including teaching, research and service.
    • Represent APU School of Nursing at simulation conferences and local/regional meetings.
    • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
    • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
    • Provides collaboration with the simulation team that involves work at multiple simulation centers based on need and assignment.

     

    LEVEL: Instructor/Assistant Professor

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • California RN licensed is required.
    • Masters degree in Nursing required. Doctoral preparation preferred.
    • Current clinical nursing experience in a content area.
    • A Basic Life Support certification renewed yearly is required.
    • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support is desired.
    • Generally, at least one year of direct simulator experience is helpful.
    • Specifically, knowledge of medical education, human anatomy and physiology, critical care procedures, and pharmacology are needed. Experience working with medical equipment and supplies.
    • Advanced IT skills involving both hardware and software.

     

    EXPERIENCE:  Training in the medical field with direct patient care responsibilities.

     

    WORKLOAD:  Full-time
