    BAY AREA COMMUNITY RESOURCES (BACR) PROMOTES THE HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH DIRECT SERVICES, VOLUNTEERISM, AND PARTNERSHIPS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA.

    San Rafael Summer Program

    Our summer programs provide safe and engaging opportunities to young people where they can learn to be productive, build positive adult and peer relationships, and participate in meaningful summer activities to improve their academic and socio-emotional skills. Position Title: Summer Instructor  REPORTS TO: BACR PROGRAM COORDINATORS AND PROGRAM MANAGER COMMITMENT: JUNE 14 TO JULY 30, 2021. *Work Days/Hours: June 14 – July 30 (M-F) 8:45 am - 5:00 pm

    Compensation: $16 - $20/ hour DOE

    Job Qualifications:

    • Must be able to work every day during program hours and commit to all the required dates for the position

    • Must be punctual and reliable

    • Must have some experience working with youth

    • Must have a general knowledge of core elementary/middle school subjects

    • Must possess a strong desired to help others

    • Must be patient and joyful

    • Must have classroom and behavioral management skills in groups of up to 22 youth

    • .Must lead youth with a caring heart while having high expectations

    • Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team

    • Must be able to communicate openly and in a professional manner with the program coordinator, students, parents, community partners, and program and school staff

    • Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity

    • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines

    • Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance/ COVID vaccinated preferable but not required

    • Must wear a face mask and follow health protocols at all times

    Job Duties:

    • Lead engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate academic enrichment and camp-style activities for program participants.

    • Complete academic enrichment lesson plans on a weekly/daily basis

    • Facilitate lessons in groups of up to 22 students

    • Be prepared before each lesson to make sure content is well known, and supplies are ready

    • Assist subcontractors in the successful implementation of their programs

    • Guide and support volunteers and helpers

    • Give and clearly explain instructions for the assignments given

    • Support students in developing the skills they need to be successful in school and life

    • Promote a safe and positive classroom environment

    • Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times

    • Model positive and proactive attitudes, behaviors, and language

    • Communicate regularly with the coordinator to ensure student needs are met

    • Follow all COVID – 19 program safety protocols

    • Ensure that all school space and equipment is left clean and orderly after each activity

    • Maintain appropriate, professional, and kid-friendly speech, behavior, and attire at all times

    • Maintain accurate attendance records and reporting procedures

    • Meet deadlines with consistency

    • Check BACR email daily and answer supervisor communication within 24 hours

    • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training

    Essential Functions:

    • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds

    • Ability to work with Excel/Microsoft Office and Web-based programs

    • Ability to perform basic administrative tasks and keep detailed records

    • Ability to be punctual and reliable
