This individual also plans and builds experiential learning opportunities in areas such as undergraduate research, job shadowing networks, academic service learning and project-based learning. As a key participant in strategic planning for the Center, the Career & Employment Program Manager develops creative ways to implement exceptional customer service to students, college faculty and staff, community member, educational partners and employers. This employee is responsible for providing expert assistance and coaching to students, alumni community members and faculty regarding internship/job search strategies, career development, connections to industry and career pathway planning. This position is exempt from overtime and relocation allowance. Essential Functions/Typical Duties Develop and implement major expansion plans to increase services for underserved students and to make employer-student connections the norm for BC students. Develop and cultivate collaborative relationships with employers, organizations, alumni, faculty and professionals to facilitate and develop internship & experiential learning opportunities. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Experiential Learning, oversee the work of students enrolled in the Experiential Learning internship programs, providing feedback on and assessing objectives, reflection papers and final deliverables. Provide students, alumni, community members and faculty with high level assistance regarding internship and job search strategies, networking connections, career development and career pathway planning Contribute to curriculum development efforts for experiential learning programs, the workshop series, and the orientation series. Contribute to grant project outcomes for initiatives across the campus Research state of the art strategies and tools that will contribute to internship search success and career advancement; implement new services; continuously assess effectiveness for quality improvements. Evaluate and monitor opportunities based on students and employer feedback and make on-site visits. Maintain current knowledge of employment trends and salary structures Represent the Center for Career Connections and Experiential Learning in cross-campus teams. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge about the college's educational and training programs, support programs and new initiatives, meet with faculty to help assess their students' career development needs. Participate in Center for Career Connections strategic planning activities to address the career and employment needs of the college baccalaureate students; play a key role in developing innovative services and implementing new services for these populations. Assist the Associate Director for Experiential Learning with hiring, training and supervising student workers as necessary. Market, advertise and promote internship opportunities to BC students through CONNECT (in-job posting site), web, social media, outreach campaigns, on-campus student events and job/internship fairs. Provide career services including resume writing, interviewing strategies, job search strategies, and social media branding support. Manage the student placement and employer relations components of the Federal and State Work study programs; design and conduct professional development for Work­ Study students and supervisors to ensure that Work-Study promotes career development. Medical Flex Spending Accounts (FSA) & Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) The FSA and DCAP plans are offered by the College and The State of Washington. They are calendar year, pre-tax, spending programs you can use to set aside money for eligible expenses. Both plans are offered as payroll deductions. The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a PEBB sponsored benefit program that allows you to use pre-tax money to pay for certain out-of-pocket medical expenses. An FSA can save you 25 - 40% on your eligible expenses. Annual contributions in 2018 can be between a minimum of $240 to maximum of $2600. As a "use it or lose it" IRC governed plan, medical expense reimbursements can be requested for employee, spouse, or their IRS eligible dependents. The Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP) allows you to save on child or elder care expenses (e.g. babysitting, daycare, in-home care for an older dependent incapable of self-care). REDUCED TUITION Employees can take most credit and non-credit classes at a reduced cost when space is available and certain conditions are met. Credit classes Faculty employed at 50% or more and permanent classified, exempt, or administrative staff may take almost any credit class on a space-available basis if requirements and prerequisites have been met. The basic cost is $5.00, plus any fees associated with that class. To get the reduced tuition rate, the employee may not register until the date listed in the enrollment calendar (usually the third day of the quarter). Hourly and probationary employees are not eligible for this reduced tuition. Continuing Education Permanent benefited employees may be able to receive a 25% employee discount on certain Continuing Education classes.
