Description Summary This is a 12-week internship supporting the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability teams, the intern will support corporate work streams. This person provides support to Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Environment Project Manager and others on Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesotas CSR Leadership Team and PR/Communications team as needed. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesotas CSR Program is responsible for conducting the program planning for a major strategic initiative under the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan to advance the organizations mission of making a healthy difference in peoples lives, to design an enterprise wide strategy and track the work and the progress being done in the 6 focus areas: CSR, Community, Health Equity Health Care, Employees and Environment that have goals metrics and measures to achieve accountably for the program. Strong interpersonal skills are required to successfully manage multiple assignments while working closely with members of the CSR, PR, Community Relations and Center for Health and Health Equity. Responsibilities may include organizing special CSR Projects, events, research, writing and editing of internal communication materials, newsletter articles, letters/electronic correspondence, event communications, speeches and other program and communications tactics. The person would be employed for a three-month internship, which may be extended, if appropriate, particularly during the school year. During the summer months, the intern would work fulltime (40 hours/week) and possibility part-time (20 hours/week) during the school year. This position reports to the Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility. Accountabilities -Coordinate activities for CSR related functions; Leadership team meetings Project ROI, CSR Brand Development, CSR Roundtables, and Sustainability Advisory Committee -Assist Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility in developing, preparing for Leadership Team on various topics such as Project ROI, and quarterly Reports, and support communications prior to and following the meeting/event -Develop timelines and project schedules, write articles and other communications for internal audiences as directed by Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility -Support efforts to develop a brand for CSR, content management and contribute content to the CSR share point site and company website -Work with the Manager of CSR and Executive Assistant to plan CSR Roundtable forums. -Research health care, business, and ROI issues and provide written summaries as directed by the Program Manager of CSR -May include engagement with key stakeholders and coalitions on issues such as health literacy, CSR, Environment, Health Equity and Community -Maintain proactive and effective communication with project team members and other stakeholders -Be an ambassador in community settings for Blue Cross Blue Shield Requirements -College student or recent college graduate, enrolled in a 4-year degree program -Formal contact with college or university where student is enrolled -Currently pursuing post-secondary education in business administration, sustainability, corporate responsibility, external affairs, public health or a closely related major with intent to stay in a related field -3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale -Required to work on site in Blue Cross Blue Shield Eagan campus during business hours -Understand core concepts around Corporate Social Responsibility and environment sustainably work in health or business settings. -Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills -Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work with both internal and external business partners, cross-functional department leads and team members and preparing and making formal presentations to a variety of audiences. -Excellent interpersonal skills; professional and personable manner -Demonstrated personal computer skills and the willingness to learn in the use of a suite of software tools (such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and project management tools -Exceptional writing, editing skills and communication skills -Ability to juggle several projects/tasks at once; set priorities, flexible and calm working under pressure -Ability to distill and summarize key activities -Preferred Requirements -Interest in health care, sustainability, corporate responsibility, external affairs and business field -Previous experience with budgeting helpful but not necessary -Volunteer or community service experience FLSA Status Non-Exempt Make a difference Thank you for your interest in Blue Cross.
