Tracking Code 1483-215 Job Description Learn about the functions of a Costume Shop, from our interactions with designers, directors, and choreographers, to costume builds and alterations. Specific skills for stage costuming are taught and practiced- including stretch fabrics for dance pieces, how to quick rig a costume for a fast change, and how to make a costume easily alterable for many wearers. Interns assist with day-to-day needs of the CS, hands on experience (sewing, crafting, and more) in a fast-paced environment- Musicals, Concert Dance, Drama/Comedy, and Opera are all worked on at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Essential Functions/Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist designers with costume fittings as needed Assist with organization of costume items for theater, dance, and opera productions Assist with labeling of costume items Assist with alterations from fittings Assist with quick rigging as needed Assist with costume crafts as needed Assist with small builds as needed Assist with setup and teardown of fitting areas as needed Assist with administrative duties as needed Required Skills Machine and hand sewing (industrials a plus) Organizational and administrative skills Excel or equivalent, Must be able to lift up to thirty pounds Crafting and dye work a plus Required Experience Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 2 years equivalent work experience Costume Design, Costume Tech, Theater Design, Fashion Design, Costume Crafts, etc. DISCLAIMER: The above information on this position description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by individuals within this classification.
