  • Responsibilities

    This position works closely with the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) Director, CTL Staff, CTL STEM Education Faculty Director, BU faculty, graduate students, departments, and schools to provide targeted administrative and budgetary support around General Education (BU Hub) and STEM Education initiatives.

     

    This will be a three year position, with the option to extend based on performance and programming needs. This position offers significant opportunities for personal and professional growth. CTL staff are encouraged to take advantage of educational and training opportunities throughout the University and beyond. Work associated with this position gives the Administrative Coordinator opportunities to connect with colleagues throughout the University community and also meet and work with students, graduate students, and faculty.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Meeting all CTL visitors whether in person, by phone, or by email with a pleasant welcome and offer to help.
    • Schedule and coordinate administrative and budgetary details of consultations, meetings, workshops, retreats, and events specific to the CTLs STEM Education Initiatives and General Education programming.
    • Assist CTL collaborations with other BU units. Plan, coordinate, and implement announcements and advertising of CTL events, by consulting CTL Staff and the STEM Education Faculty Director, including but not limited to posting events on CTL website and sending them to the CTL email list.
    • Organize, manage, and record data and information related to CTL programs and services as needed for reports and other documents as necessary.
    • Update to the CTL website when necessary.
    • Assist CTL Director in desktop publishing of various publications and announcements, whether in digital or paper form, using excellent skills with Word, WordPress, and Excel among others, and learning new computer programs as necessary.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree required and one to three years of relevant experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication is essential.
    • Establishes and maintains respectful, cooperative, productive work relationships.
    • Strong organizational and project management capabilities, including the ability to manage a variety of complex projects and priorities, coordinate with others, and follow projects through to completion.
    • Initiative to organize, prioritize, plan, and manage own work activities according to necessary timelines and schedules.
    • Tact and discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
    • Ability to operate comfortably in a wide variety of roles, whether behind the scenes, or publicly.
