Now, our Major Gifts team is looking for a Development Coordinator who will perform a wide variety of professional, administrative and staff support tasks for the members of the Major Gifts team.

    Major Gifts at Boston University The Major Gifts (MG) team is a regionally based team that covers six regions domestically and is not affiliated with any particular school or college. The MG team focuses on the discovery, qualification, solicitation, and close of major gifts ($100K+).

    Development Coordinator

    The Development Coordinator provides general office support for several Major Gifts Officers, serves as a point of contact for major prospects and donors, helps to organize and execute high level events, prepares communication materials for meetings or presentations, provides data analysis and research support, and coordinates travel and track expenses.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform data analysis and prospect research using a number of data bases and internet research tools. Ability to run multiple research reports using BBEC system, which produce sensitive and confidential data. Establish and maintain office, filing and computer systems for prospect files and donor giving figures, contact reports, and UIS/Prospect Tracking updates for a number of Major Gift Officers.
    • Provide preliminary prospect and giving research, including general work with Internet browsing tools. Collect and compile files on top prospects and be able to participate in cultivation discussion and strategy sessions. Assist in providing a stewardship support to a number of top prospects.
    • Perform general office support duties, including scheduling meetings, maintaining appointments and calendars, arranging travel, ordering supplies, tracking expenses, compiling Presidential briefing books, assisting with correspondence and outreach, both written and verbal, to prospects, screening and directing phone calls, ad hoc coverage of front desk, and processing university paperwork.
    • Assist with the development, execution and follow up of multiple high level events. This includes direct prospect and donor contact. Also, including invitation design, drafting and editing, assisting with large mailings, occasional support during the event, and follow-up post event.
    • Provide communication support to multiple Major Gift Officers. This includes packet preparation for meetings and presentations, assisting with the creation of summaries of strategic initiatives, assembling screening books and packets of information for high level prospects.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • One to three years of relevant experience.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to prioritize a large workload.
    • Must be able to handle confidential material responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals.
