  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a part-time Production Assistant (PA) to play an important role in the preparation for and delivery of live broadcast class sessions for BU Virtual. The PA must have demonstrated technical experience of broadcast studio equipment, as well as knowledge of broadcast and live streaming platforms. The PA oversees live broadcast sessions, maintains studio equipment for peak performance, runs equipment during the broadcast, and trains and supervises the student production team. This role operates in a professional office environment, as well as broadcast studios and production control rooms.

    This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position with hours that coincide with early morning and late-night live sessions held weekly at the BU Virtual production studios.

    Key responsibilities:

    • End to end technical production management using major webinar and major webinar and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, ON24, INXPO, WebEx, GoToMeeting, vMix, BlueJeans)
    • Managing the setup, wiring and operation of high-resolution audio-visual equipment, computers for video playback, screen switchers, video switchers, GFX computers and based video recording devices.
    • Oversight and management of live broadcast sessions including contractors and student crew.
    • Providing on-site technical supervision, overseeing bump in and bump out, show operations, and labor management.
    • Working closely with the Teaching Team and Director of Media Production and Technology to on-board faculty and teaching team.
    • Managing production schedules.
    • Basic video editing
    • Keeping abreast with industry trends

    This is an on-site position.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience
    • Outstanding customer service mentality
    • Strong technical knowledge of entertainment equipment and systems, as well as broadcast platforms (e.g., Zoom, ON24, INXPO, WebEx, GoToMeeting, vMix, BlueJeans, etc.).
    • Outstanding organization skills with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects.
    • Work independently while also being team oriented.
    • Experience running technical aspects of virtual events across the corporate sector, from large-scale conferences to intimate networking and breakout sessions.
    • Experience leading teams of staff/crewing including but not limited to video, projection, staging, rigging and AV teams.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Able to think critically and on your feet and lead multiple projects at the same time!
    • Flexible, dependable, detail orientated, innovative, motivated, and enthusiastic about delivering exceptional events.
