The vision of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research is to create novel and practical ways to understand, explain, and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequity and injustice. We convene varied researchers and practitioners to foster exhaustive racial data collection, research-based policy innovation, solutions-focused narrative change initiatives, and practical advocacy campaigns. Together, these efforts power real-world antiracist change and impact. The BU Center for Antiracist Research was founded in 2020 by Dr. Ibram Kendi. The Center is rapidly growing and looking for passionate individuals to join their dedicated staff. The Center for Antiracist Research is seeking a strategic, creative, confident, and results-oriented individual to develop and execute a proactive and cohesive marketing, communications, and branding strategy for the Center of Antiracist Research. The Associate Director of Communications will develop this strategy in collaboration with the Center's Director, Executive Director, and the Associate Directors of the Offices of Research, Policy, Narrative, and Advocacy and will evaluate and update the strategy annually. The Associate Director will stay closely attuned to the Centers mission/projects and the global trends and issues that may impact the Center as a whole. The position requires an exceptional ability to generate and translate ideas into compelling stories, arguments, and narratives on the Centers social media and website. The candidate must have strong writing, editing and proofreading ability. An eye for visual storytelling is a plus. The Associate Director will ensure brand consistency across all external-facing campaigns, websites, and materials. The Associate Director will serve as the primary liaison to the media and will develop relationships and support the Offices in getting their work featured on radio and TV and in print. The Associate Director will develop marketing campaigns that create momentum and awareness and will build engagement across the Center's digital and other platforms. The Associate Director will mentor and supervise the Center's Events and Programs Manager and Communications and Marketing Manager.
